Balmain Warehouse

Sitting proudly on a prominent corner in Balmain, the warehouse conversion is designed to revitalise not only the warehouse but also the streetscape, taking cues from the local area into the design. This is an adaptive reuse project in which the design seeks to be flexible, future proofing and thus extending the life of the warehouse. 

The existing warehouse will undergo a retrofit to increase its energy efficiency and occupant comfort, including a new fully insulated roof, new double glazed windows and installation of a heat pump. The addition to the rear of the warehouse is an adaptive reuse and creative interpretation of the existing structure, adopting the corrugated iron cladding with contemporary detailing, introducing planting and creating moments of interaction with the street to foster a sense of community.
