Cremorne Point House

Perched amongst the canopy of jacarandas overlooking Sydney Harbour’s Mosman Bay, Cremorne Point House harmoniously blends contemporary living and heritage architecture whilst taking cues from its natural environment. The federation home in the Heritage Conservation Area is restored and respectfully connected to the new addition via a glazed void. This void delivers natural daylight into the house, a key component of a healthy home.

The design comprises a series of residential spaces centred around this void, allowing for social, visual, acoustic and climatic connectivity. This connectivity was key to the brief, in which gathering with family and friends is an intrinsic part of daily life for the occupants. Drawing nature into the home and creating a cooling effect is achieved via planter boxes on the facades and the roof terrace. The existing house has been retrofitted to increase energy efficiency and improve thermal comfort.
