Neutral Bay House

Set on a steep site in Neutral Bay with sweeping views to the Sydney CBD, the design transforms this single storey semi-detached bungalow into a generous three storey family home. By maximising the slope of the site, both an upper level and a lower level addition are added to the existing bungalow, tripling its floor area. The design is sympathetic to the local area, adopting both materials and forms that are respectful to the neighbourhood. The elevated position provides a perfect opportunity to capture the breeze and sunlight, with cross ventilation and natural light encouraged through the placement of double glazed windows and bifold double glazed doors.

The layout is functional for family life, providing spaces for people to both gather and retreat, as well as large balconies to encourage outdoor living. Flexibility was an essential element of the brief, with a multifunctional space facilitated by large sliding doors.
